You should always have 10X goals.
A pretty tall order, huh? Who is this unrealistic person, expecting me to always have 10X goals. What am I, Superman?
Fortunately, you will never hit any of those 10X goals. Actually, yes, maybe you’ll get lucky and hit a couple of them, especially if the stars are shining on you.
But the reality is, it’s highly unlikely that you’ll hit any one of them. Fortunately, hitting the 10X goal is not the point.
The point is that a 10X goal forces you down a path that you would not go down otherwise. You are going to experience things you wouldn’t have experienced otherwise, and that is the main value in the 10X goal.
You can pick a 10X goal out of the thin air. Probably doesn’t matter all that much what it is. It should probably be something you actually want, come to think of it, because you’re going to have to look at it for a while.
But if you get a few years down the road, and your 10X goal isn’t relevant anymore, don’t worry about it too much. Remember, the point was not the 10X goal itself, the point was to get forced down a road you hadn’t been down before, and if that’s what happened, the 10X goal probably already served its purpose, in that you probably gained more skills in pursuit of that 10X goal than you would have otherwise.
