You will never not be nervous

I’ve been doing presentation training and public speaking for over 15 years. If I had a dollar for each time I’ve heard someone say those things make them nervous and they want to learn how to not be nervous, I’d be a very rich man.

Of course you’re nervous. Humans are social animals. We’re basically monkeys, except less hairy. If all the other monkeys were staring at one monkey, don’t you think that one monkey would get nervous? That’s public speaking.

Public speaking and presentation training are not about learning how to not be nervous.

They are about learning how to do the right things even when you are nervous.
