Tom Tran

Back in May 2023, Alper and I had our first guest on the podcast, Tom Tran.

That was two years ago. I don’t think Tom realizes how big a deal he was, but having guests was a key part of our podcast still going strong two years later.

You see, when Tom came on, Alper and I had already been doing the podcast for a year, and we realized, if we don’t get some other people on here, we’re going to run out of things to say.

(By the way, Tom is a member of this email list, so if he sees this, hi Tom!)

There’s something in there for you to keep in mind for your own presentations: And that is that the voices of other people make yours all the better.

Whenever you can, have other people join your presentation. Call on audience members. Tell others’ stories in your presentation. Bring them in however you can.

It won’t be easy. It’s an entirely new skill set, and you’re already learning how to deal with sweaty palms, cotton mouth, and other forms of nervousness.

But keep working on that skill, and become good at it. It’ll be one of the most powerful tools in your toolbox.

PS: Tom, in case you’re reading this: I loved the fact that your dog joined us for that recording. In fact, I still think of that part two years later, and how your dog joining us made me think, “If this is what having guests means, I’m totally on board with having guests.”

A couple days ago, I wrote about AI and my world. Today I'm going to branch out a bit beyond little ol' me… A lot of people these days are afraid of AI. Is it going to make us humans obsolete? When I say there's not much to be afraid of, I tend to get pushback in two...
